Southern region

The Southern region stretches along the narrow peninsula from
Bangkok all the way to the Malaysian border. While generally famous for its fine beaches and the international resort of
Phuket and Koh Samui, for the adventurous traveller the South has much more to offer. The rugged interior of mountains,
rivers and forests in a host of national parks offer great opportunities for safari expeditions by foot, elephant and
canoe. The fascinating rock formations and offshore islands at Krabi and Trang offer peaceful alternatives to Phuket and
Koh Samui for those who seek the more quiet places. In Krabi you can go sea-canoeing or gently paddle through the
mangrove forests and river estuary, take boat trips and go camping on off-shore islands. The National Park of Khao Sok
offers one of the finest trekkings of the south. On Koh Tao you can learn to scuba dive at some of the most affordable
prices in the world. For certified divers the island offers year-road diving with many fine dive sites.
